When we moved from Canada to South Dakota my mom gifted us with a painting set of iconic places of the city that our family lived in. It was a great art piece that we proudly hung in our home to remember our roots. We knew that we wouldn’t stay in South Dakota forever either so I had a print made of the falls in our city there to hang next to the first painting.
When we moved to North Texas last summer I knew I was eventually going to have to get something made up with something from Dallas to add to our ‘city art’ collection. When Canvas Champ contacted me a couple of weeks ago to review their service by ordering a canvas print, I started looking through my photos for a good picture of the Dallas skyline.
For all the times in the last year that we’ve already been in the Big D, I didn’t have a photo worthy of a canvas print, so I headed to the Creative Commons section of Flickr and found a picture I really liked. Photo credit to Robert Hensley. I tweaked the coloring a bit to better fit the look I was going after and ended up with this:
When I received the package in the mail I was so impressed by the incredible way it was packaged. This canvas was secure, and with the speedy delivery I was actually shocked to find out that it had been delivered from overseas. Their customer service is very good as well, I asked questions pertaining to the canvas I had ordered and they were quick to answer them and address my concerns.
The colors on the canvas are very true to the picture I submitted to Canvas Champ (the overhead lighting when I took the picture does not do the colors on the canvas justice) and the picture is in no way distorted. I liked that I had the option to make it the size I wanted which is not a normal canvas size at 21″ x 15″, but with the way the photo was cropped to get all the buildings on a standard sized canvas would have cut some of it off.
I chose to do a mirror wrap of the edges, and am pleased with how it turned out.
The wrapping of the canvas is very well done. There is no slack in the stretch even on the back of the frame and Canvas Champ includes a hanging guide template as well as hangers already on the frame to make displaying your canvas an easier project.
The prices are fair for the quality that you receive. Prices for 8″x8″ canvas prints start as low as $10! My print came to just over $30.
I’m happy with the print we received and am looking forward to hanging it on our ‘city art’ wall.

It turned out beautifully! I've never had a photo made into a canvas print before, good to know of a place who does it well.
