Build-A-Bear Workshop Salutes the Armed Services Giveaway

I have such appreciation for the men and women and their families who serve our country in the armed services . On our recent flight from Atlanta to Minneapolis there was a group of military personnel making their way home from Afghanistan for a two week leave. As we were getting our baggage, it was precious to watch one family with a little girl be united and the excitement she had to see her daddy again. These are just the families that Build-A-Bear is seeking to support as they partner with the USO (United Service Organization).

From May 3 to June 7 2010, members of the armed services including the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Reserve Officer Training Corps will receive a 20% discount on any one transaction at Build-A-Bear Workshop stores with the presentation of a government issued military identification card.

In 2002, Build-A-Bear Workshop partnered with the USO by donating almost 20 thousand bears for military families. Since then they have continued to support the USO in different ways. This year, Build-A-Bear Workshop is inviting Guests to donate $1 at checkout registers at all Build-A-Bear Workshop locations in the United States.

If you don’t have a Build-A-Bear Workshop near you, but would like to gift either a service member or someone close to them with a USO inspired bear, Build-A-Bear Workshop online has many “heroes” to choose from a variety of service branches.

Build-A-Bear wants to get to know their community of supporters as well, the family and friends of our Military Heroes, and they are sponsoring a twitter party to do just that.

The Build-A-Bear Workshop Military Mom Twitter Party will be on May 11th, 2010 at 7 p.m. EST/10 p.m. PST.  You will be able to follow all the tweets buy using the hashtag #BABWMilitary.  Hosting the party is @MomTalkRadio (Maria Bailey founder of Mom Select)  so make sure to follow her as well as @ResourcefulMom on the evening of May 11th, for updates, prizes and the details on how to win.  Everyone is invited to say thanks to the everyday heroes who defend our country,  you don’t have to be part of a military family to take part.

Stories of gratitude will be shared along with great prizes all evening long.

Build-A-Bear Workshops Military Bears don’t just make a great gift for those enlisted, but for their children, girlfriends/boyfriends, and mothers/fathers (hint, hint, Mother’s & Father’s Day are both coming up!), as well as those who are graduating and planning on enlisting!   And what a fun thing to do with your favorite kids when at home on leave, but to make a Military Bear at a Build-A-Bear Workshop, so they have a cuddly friend to keep with them until their loved one returns home.

Build-A-Bear  wants one lucky reader to be able to make a bear by giving away a $25 gift card that can be used in a store or online.

To enter, visit the Build-A-Bear Military Collection and let me know in the form which military hero you’d like to get.

See the form for extra entries.

Open to US Residents ages 18+, ends May 20, 2010 at 11:59 pm cst. Winner will be notified by email and will have 48 hours to respond or a new winner will be chosen. By entering this giveaway you are stating that you have read my **About Reviews and my Privacy/Rules statements and agree to them.
