3 Easy Ways to Live Secure for Back-to-School

School supplies, clothes, hair cuts, those are all things we tend to think about when the back-to-school season is upon us. But how about safety? Sometimes that can get lost in the transition of summer fun to classroom, but here are 3 easy ways to keep your tweens/teens safe and help them live secure as fall and school rolls around again.

1. Develop a home alone policy. If your tweens or teens have to stay at home alone for anytime before or after school, discuss with them what will be allowed during that time and what won’t. Whether it’s no friends, no internet time, what appliances should never be used; have consequences and rewards for obedience to the set rules. We also like to have a code word to use, so if something did happen, where an explanation couldn’t be mentioned over the phone (intruder etc.,) the use of the code word would impart to us that we need to call 911 or come home right away.

2. Get insurance. Kids will be kids, and accidents will happen. If your children aren’t insured, an accident plan for them is a good idea. They are generally very affordable and you can choose from a variety of options including ones for at school, sports, extra dental coverage and more. The best way to find out about these is to go to your school or school district’s website or call the school’s secretary and they will likely have information to mail out to you about what plans the school offers.

3. Go high-tech. Master Lock’s new dialSpeed Electronic Padlock is a revolutionary type of lock. The electronic interface offers speed, ease of use, and personalized codes (read…Mom & Dad can have their own code to access….). Each dialSpeed Electronic Lock comes with a permanent unique Backup Master Code that is stored at Master Lock Vault for lost combos, so even if your tween/teen forgets the combination, there is always a way to open it. It comes ready to use with a replaceable battery that offers 5+ years of typical school day use. The shackle is made from boron carbide for increased cut resistance. This is a great new lock for securing school lockers, gym lockers or other inside storage.

A ‘picture’ review didn’t do this product justice so I did a video review of the dialSpeed Electronic Combination Lock.

As part of the Master Lock Live Secure Safety Squad I have received products for my family to use in my home for our safety and security.  Any opinions I share in posts related to the Live Security Squad and Master Lock are my own and aren’t influenced by products I’ve received.
