Green Tea Mango Energy Smoothie

Mangoes were on sale at the store last week for 48¢, and I had just gotten a package delivered with some Lung Ching Dragonwell green tea from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf thanks to a Klout perk.  So when I was flipping through my August issue of Woman’s Day and saw Joy Bauer’s Energy Smoothie recipe, featuring green tea and mango, well I knew I had to make it.

Her recipe ingredients included vanilla flavored Greek yogurt, but I just had plain so I added 1/2 tsp vanilla to the smoothie.  I probably could have added a bit more, 3/4 or 1 tsp even.

Ingredients

1 green tea bag
1/2 cup fat-free Greek yogurt
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 cup mango chunks
5 ice cubes

Steep the tea bag in 4 oz of boiling water for 5 minutes.  Remove tea bag and let tea come to room temperature (I chilled mine in the fridge while I cut up the mango).  Combine all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

  1. I like mango-flavored things, but not chowing down on an actual mango. This would be a good way for me to eat them when they go on sale at Aldi.
