+U Student Scholarship Entry Now Open

As most of you know our daughter is in her senior year of high school and is preparing for graduation and university.  Last fall we downloaded so many forms for applications, admissions and scholarships; printed them all, filled them out, sent them back, and then began the waiting period.

All of the months of essay writing, all of the recommendations, all of the testing, came down to waiting for the responses, and it was agonizing.  And then one day in the mail the admission letter came.  And then another day the scholarship offer came, and then another day and the Merit Scholar letter came.  What a relief for my husband and I, because higher education is EXPENSIVE y’all!!  Like take out a second mortgage expensive!!!

To help students achieve their higher education goals, +U™ will be giving away $200,000 in college scholarships throughout 2014, which is news I thought those of you with students in high school might be interested in.

The first national giveaway, open now through March 31, 2014, will award five $10,000 cash scholarships to be used toward school tuition.

In 200 words or less, entrants are asked to describe their ideal college experience and how it will help their future.  Five winners will be selected based on the originality and creativity of their submission.

That’s a pretty great scholarship and 200 words, well that’s not a chore for a student to come up with at all!  My daughter entered, because even with the scholarship she already received there’s always something else to pay for, right?!  And if she would happen to win and can’t use it, some other deserving student will then get a chance at those funds.
