With all the love for Disney in this house and the boxes upon boxes of Disney DVDs that line our shelves, I’m going to let out a little admission here…I’ve never seen The Nightmare Before Christmas before.

Can it possibly be that this movie was released 20 years ago, and not once in all that time have I watched it?!  Shocking, I know!

If you (like me) are actually completely unaware of what this movie is even about here’s a short film synopsis:

Bored with the same old scare-and-scream routine, Pumpkin King Jack Skellington longs to spread the joy of Christmas.  But his merry mission puts Santa in jeopardy and creates a nightmare for good little boys and girls everywhere!

The voice talent includes Chris Sarandon as Jack Skellington’s speaking voice, Danny Elfman as Jack Skellington’s singing voice (I guess Chris Sarandon can’t sing?!) and Catherine O’Hara as Sally.

So now I’m kind of excited for September to come along, I think it’s about time I popped this cult classic into the DVD player and watched the ‘scarily’ real 3D picture and sound in Blu-ray Hi-Def.

What do you think of The Nightmare Before Christmas?  One of your favorites, just meh, or you could do without ever having to watch it again?  Or are you hiding under a rock like me and haven’t even seen it before?

  1. Wow, I remember seeing this show as a kid! I don't remember really liking it much, but after seeing it a few times, it definitely grew on me. I think I've come to a point where I really appreciate Tim Burton's creativity. I'm excited for this to come out again, I think my boys would enjoy it.

  2. I did get the opportunity to see it when pretty soon after it came out. I really liked it at the time and still do whenever i get a chance to see it again.

  3. I haven't seen it either, even though I've had multiple occasions to see it. Strangely they just never worked out in my favor. Maybe I'll watch it come September! 20 years? Wow, I didn't think it was that old either.
