Grilling With ConAgra

One of the reasons I love summer so much, is because it gives me a break from cooking.  Winter lasts so long here, that I am so excited when grilling season starts so I can hand the reigns for dinner over to Hubby a few times a week.

There are so many things one can make on the grill, but a favorite of the kids is always hot dogs.  I don’t know what it is about them that makes them more special than chicken or burgers, but it seems that kids prefer them.  Maybe it’s because hot dogs are easy to eat one handed? LOL.  I guess that frees the other hand up to grab hold of that cold drink or brownie!

Mom Central and ConAgra Foods wanted to make sure I got a night off from cooking, so sent me some products for Hubby to grill.   One of the prerequisites for Hubby to eat hot dogs is that they need to be 100% beef.  Which Hebrew National Hot Dogs are.  This is a brand we have not bought before, and we were pleased with both the size and the taste of them.  You would think that 100% beef hot dogs would be expensive and I guess compared to the ones that contain pork, chicken and beef they are, but when I purchased mine they were on sale at Hy-Vee for $2.50, which I don’t think is pricey at all for all beef.  Not only was the package I purchased all beef, it was also low fat, each hot dog is only 40 calories.  That’s a big difference from hot dogs that aren’t low fat.

We also got to try Hunt’s No High Fructose Corn Syrup Ketchup as well as Gulden’s Mustard.  Honestly, the ketchup will take a bit to get used to, it is more acidic tasting than the brand we currently use. All combined with my mustard and bun surrounding that hot dog though, it was tasty !

Do you grill out a lot in summer?  Have you purchased these ConAgra products before?  Are all beef or low fat hot dogs important to you?

I wrote this review while participating in a blog campaign by Mom Central on behalf of ConAgra and received a picnic bag with samples of ConAgra products to facilitate my candid review. Mom Central also sent me a gift card to thank me for taking the time to participate.
