Gifting and Giving Back with Fire Department Coffee

For those that have been reading my blog for a while you know that coffee is my life blood.  When I first started drinking coffee I was not discerning on quality or flavor profiles.  Like.. at all.  But over the years I’ve become somewhat of a coffee connoisseur, and while I have my favorite brands, roasts and flavors, I’m ALWAYS interested in trying new ones.  Recently, I was introduced to Fire Department Coffee.

Fire Department Coffee is a veteran-owned and firefighter-run coffee company that gives back 10% of net proceeds to ill and injured firefighters and first responders through their Fire Dept. Coffee Foundation.  A company that gives back to communities and supports the people who are there to save my life if I need them.. by just doing something I’m already doing (drinking coffee), they get my stamp of approval.

I think it’s pretty cool that every order is freshly roasted by a team of firefighters and first responders.

Fire Department Coffee sent me a couple of flavors to try from their great variety of coffees.

One of them was the Blueberry Cake Donut Coffee. The unique natural flavor of blueberry and deliciously glazed cake donut takes this coffee to a whole new level.  As soon as you open the bag the scent of this coffee is intoxicating!  There is no doubting the flavor profile on this when you start sipping, the blueberry flavor is strong but not overpowering.  Also I love that they give brewing instructions on their packaging.  All y’all, USE that info 😉  Your coffee experience is dependent on the grounds to water ratio and you’re gimping your experience if you water your coffee down 😉

Next up were the Vanilla Bean Bourbon Coffee Pods (not made by Keurig, but yes they fit your Keurig…).  This is a fantastic flavor profile of rich vanilla bean and premium bourbon. It’s smooth (even smoother if you add a splash of extra bourbon LOL!), not bitter and tastes natural.  Many flavored coffees (especially those formulated to mimic liquor flavors) have a strange after taste, but I didn’t find that at all with the FDC coffee.  Pretty sure that’s due to them using natural flavors 😉

I encourage you to check out Fire Department Coffee if you have a coffeeholic on your holiday shopping list (or if you are one yourself!).  Think of it as gifting twice with just one present,  since not only will your recipient be grateful for some awesome coffee, but you’ll be helping provide essential resource and assistance to first responders who have been injured on the job, mentally or physically, or who are facing other serious health challenges through the Fire Dept. Coffee Foundation.
