I KNOW the importance of being hydrated, unfortunately even though it is on my New Year’s Resolution List every year I suck at drinking water. Mostly it’s because I don’t like the taste (or lack thereof?) of water. I’m not ashamed to admit that I like flavor, and more accurately I drink my fluids in coffee, which sort of is counterproductive on the whole ‘hydration’ thing. And plain water…well has no flavor. So with the anticipation of once again needing to add “drink more water” to my list on January 1, I’m doing baby steps now so maybe by then I won’t have to. I’m starting with a small amount so I don’t feel like I’m running to the bathroom every five minutes and will increase it from there by 4 or 8 ounces a day. I’m up to 30 oz a day, which I know is not optimal but still it’s better than 0!
Thank goodness there are products out there that aid people like me in getting their water intake. As consumers the most popular up to now have been those individual packets of powdered sticks that you can add to water bottles. I’ve used them, but I’m inept and most of the time I have clumps of powder mix on the bottom of the bottle and/or floating throughout the water…ick. Recently some brands have come out with the same idea but in concentrated liquid form, enabling you to add less or more flavor to your water, with a pretty instant mixibility (I’m pretty sure that’s not a word), requiring a quick shake or two.
Thanks to Coca-Cola I got to try the new DASANI DROPS. These flavor enhancers let you add fruit flavor and sweetness to your water anywhere, anytime.
Each bottle has enough ‘drops’ to flavor 32 eight ounce servings of water, and you’re just adding flavor as it has 0 calories. Take note that this is a flavor additive, it’s not a nutritional product. The packaging states that they are “Naturally Flavored with Other Natural Flavors”, although I’m not entirely sure what that means.
So what makes DASANI DROPS worth buying? Well for me it would be the small amount you’d need to flavor your water (I found 4 short ‘squirts’ of the bottle flavored the water just right for me).
Some of the flavors needed less than that as they seemed more ‘potent’ in their flavoring. Really the best part of the liquid enhancer is YOU control how much flavor goes into your water (unlike powdered sticks). Want less, squirt less, want more, squirt more! (The drip free valve on the bottle is a nice touch too, no wasting or spilling those coveted drops.)
The other reason I’d be compelled to buy DASANI DROPS would be a couple of the flavors they offer. Right now there are four, two of them are pretty standard to the market Mixed Berry and Strawberry Kiwi.
You probably won’t have trouble finding a water flavor enhancer of some type in the Pink Lemonade either (although I don’t know if that flavor is offered in “liquid” form by other brands). DASANI DROPS in Pineapple Coconut though is unique, and tasty. This one I can see buying again in the future.
Bonus – the bottles themselves are only 1.9 fl oz…this means you can take them in your carry on luggage when you fly!
We’ll see if I can get more water intake on a daily basis by using DASANI DROPS, one thing I know for sure, I find it easier to drink the water when using them.
DASANI DROPS will be hitting stores this month, keep your eyes open for it.
I received samples of this product from Coca-Cola, all opinions are my own.

What! Coffee is not considered water. I too have a hard time with the water drinking but when I do, I feel much better.
OMG! I need this! You know when I was pregnant the only water I could drink was Dasani. All other water tasted like fish! So Dasani drops would be perfect for me! Now I tend to consume about 4 8 ounce glasses of water right now due to necessity since I am breastfeeding, but when I wean, I know i will just go back to my old ways!! I can't wait til they are in stores. I hope they are in expensive.
