If you only do one thing this month…decide to move more.
In 2014 I made a decision to take up running. I needed to challenge myself to get into shape in a way that would have me working up a sweat, in other words so that my heart rate would actually speed up.
After doing this for a few months, the effects are many. Of course there is the shedding of fat and the gaining of muscle but not only am I less sedentary, I’ve found that because I have to push myself to get up and run my circuit, I also push myself to do a variety of other tasks that I don’t care to do.
For example, if I don’t want to clean…I just remind myself, ‘hey, if you could run for a mile this morning, you certainly can dust the living room 😉 .’
There is also another effect that isn’t nearly as ‘pride’ worthy as building muscle and perseverance. That would be the fact that pounding my sneakers on the pavement results in bladder leakage.
I’m not alone in this. Over 51 million American women experience bladder leakage. That’s 1 in 3 American women*. There are many common causes of bladder leakage in women including pregnancy, childbirth and even diabetes.
It meant that my running gear included a bag on my back that held an extra change of clothes, because more often than not I had to make a pit stop at the local recreation center and make a quick change.Running has become something that is crucial to my emotional well-being, and if I’m not confident when I’m running that effects my entire day. It became discouraging and I almost gave up and then one day, I decided to try wearing a pair of Depend® disposable underwear. As the days passed, I discovered that I could run without stopping (albeit with the help of some great tunes on my playlist!), when wearing them.
Then a few weeks ago, I was introduced to a new variety; Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit.Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit lives up to its name, they are dependable and they don’t leave any “chunk in your trunk” when you wear them either 😉 These new moderate-absorbency briefs feature a thin design for complete comfort with the trusted protection of the Depend brand and a lower rise+ for an underwear-like look, fit and feel. Bet you wouldn’t even be able to tell when someone is wearing them. Am I right?! Join the movement with me and request a free sample of Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit briefs at www.depend.com/products/get-samples. Together, we can show that wearing a different kind of underwear is no big deal.
Depend is joining forces with CVS Health to support women with bladder leakage as they navigate their path to better health. Women like me. Visit www.cvs.com/depend to learn more about Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit. I’m not ready for a race yet, but being able to run wearing Depend® Silhouette® Active Fit briefs and without my mind constantly wandering to where I might be able to find the closest restroom in order to change my bottoms, is definitely a step in the right direction.
The Depend brand is also entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is:
• Encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage. For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage.

I am so proud of you.
