And even though most people drink their favorite coffee drink daily and don’t feel the need to try anything else, sometimes it is still worth changing your routine. The weekend is a perfect time to try your hand at new coffee recipes, especially if your mood leaves much to be desired. You can find a huge variety of options on the web, but you can start small if you are not ready for extremes. Ice cream is an iconic remedy for a bad mood, so why not combine it with your favorite drink and cheer yourself up?

Two secrets of making coffee with ice cream

If you like cooking and try different recipes from the Internet, you might have noticed that not all of them work out even if you follow the instructions. The thing is that many cooks omit some key points that affect the final result. Maybe they are jealous to share their secrets, or they just overlook this info. Anyway, you should follow certain rules to get the best out of the provided recipes.  

  1. High-quality ingredients

You cannot get delicious coffee if you use low-quality products. Thus, make sure that all components are fresh and tasty. Pay special attention to coffee beans. The chosen type of coffee beans should be compatible with milk. You can opt for espresso coffee beans, but it is better to ask a specialist what espresso brand can ensure your drink’s creamier texture. Bear in mind that you should never use instant coffee. Period. You can choose one of the if you have neither a coffee machine nor money for it. Well, even a cezve can be a better option than instant coffee.

  1. Chilled glass

Whatever dish you use, whether it is a special bowl or an old-fashioned glass, it is worth placing into the freezer for a while. When you are ready to “collect” your masterpiece, take the dish out of the freezer. This small tip will help you get a wonderful result and not allow ice cream to melt for some time.

Dark knight

This recipe contains a few ingredients but can delight you with amazing flavor. You will need about 200-300 ml of ready-made coffee, 5-7 pieces of dark chocolate, 25 gr of nuts, 3 scoops of ice cream. When you get all the components, fry nuts on a dry skillet, and then grind them or chop with a knife. Make coffee as you like and add chopped chocolate into it. If you make coffee in a jezve, add chocolate earlier and bring the drink to a boil. Turn off the heat, stir everything well and leave it for several minutes. After that, you can make the drink in two versions: based on hot coffee or chilled. If you choose the first option, you should pour hot coffee into a glass by one third. Add several scoops of ice cream and garnish with chocolate or nuts. If you like the second option, then chill your coffee first, pour into the glass, add some ice cubes and add all other ingredients.

Affogato

Affogato is an incredibly delicious Italian dessert that can boast of a win-win combination of textures and flavors: coffee and ice cream, crumbly biscuits, and crunchy caramel-coated nuts. If you need a spectacular dessert that can be prepared in a few minutes, feel free to cook affogato. You will need about 100-150 ml of espresso or just strong coffee, 4 scoops of ice cream, 5 cookies, 25 gr of nuts, 3 tbsp of powdered sugar. However, you can turn on your fantasy and experiment a bit. You can add brandy, rum, or coffee liqueur. If you don’t have an espresso machine, read a to find a suitable future option. And now you can make just strong coffee in a jezve. The taste will be different a bit, but it is better than nothing.

So, pour boiling water over the peeled nuts and leave for 1-2 minutes. Then drain the water and place the nuts in a baking dish. Smooth out and do a coat with powdered sugar. Stir the nuts, put in an oven preheated to 180 degrees, and bake for 5-10 minutes until the powdered sugar melts, forming a caramelized crust on the nuts. Make a cup of strong coffee. To serve dessert, crush cookies into a glass or bowl, or add a biscuit cut into pieces, filling the glass no more than 1/3 full. Add 4 scoops of ice cream. Pour in hot coffee, filling the glass about 1/3 more full. Garnish the dessert with the caramelized nuts.

Ginger Glace

You can make a traditional version of this recipe without ginger, but if you like it spicy, give it a try. You will need 150 ml of coffee, ¼ tsp of ginger, 70 gr of vanilla ice cream, 70 gr of chocolate ice cream with chocolate cover. Peel and finely grate the ginger root. Make coffee the way you like, and immediately add ginger after preparation. Brew it for 5 minutes and strain. Cut the ice cream into pieces to make it easier to add to the glass. Pour chilled coffee into a glass and add ice cream.
