Every Christmas season is a time where you break out the traditions from year’s past. Simultaneously you want to create new memories and traditions with your children and so you are always looking to try new things too. For me, nothing says the holidays like the sweet treats. We have some favorite ones around here, like my mom’s Nuessecken. This year I didn’t have to go far to find what will become a yearly tradition in our home. Sweet Virginia’s, a Dallas-based company specializing in seasonal, craft toffee.
The story behind Sweet Virginia’s is inspiring. The toffee was gifted to friends and family for Christmas, and then the Turner ‘kids’ decided to make some to earn some extra money when they were in college. In the spirit of the season, I took it upon myself to try out this classic candy treat (that Sweet Virginia’s so generously provided for review) so I could tell you all if you should buy some. I mean according to a Facebook quiz, candy is definitely my expertise so my opinion on this is worth something, right?! 😉
Their handmade toffee has it all. The finest quality butter, semi-sweet chocolate and fresh California almonds make it some of the most fantastic toffee I have ever tasted. The ratio of chocolate to almonds is perfect, and that buttery goodness that your tastebuds encounter is nirvana. Virginia Turner, taught her children how to put just the right amount of love into each batch of toffee, I believe that’s true to this day and part of the reason it tastes so good!
If you love real ingredients in your candy, Sweet Virginia’s is for you. Their only flaw is they are seasonal!! They start production in the fall for the holiday season only, Sweet Virginia’s is not available year round (at this point). But let’s all admit this is really a seasonally appropriate offering. So don’t delay in ordering online you won’t want to miss getting some this year.
Prices start at $20 so Sweet Virginia’s makes a nice host/hostess present for your holiday parties… or just a sweet snack for you (and your family if you want to share!). It’s available in 1/2 lb and 1 lb boxes and can be shipped anywhere in the United States.
