Bound For Barcelona – Castaway Cay

Courtesy of LyncornOne of the most fun places to visit in the Caribbean is an island you can only get to if you sail on a Disney cruise.  It’s Castaway Cay, and it’s Disney’s private island in the Bahamas.

All year round in the harbor you can see The Flying Dutchman.  This was actually used in the filming of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies.

It was a little chilly that day, the air temperature and the water temperature precluded us from swimming.  There were some courageous people who were brave enough to wade in.  We tried, but only got as far as our ankles.  As fun as the new Pelican Plunge structure that is up at Castaway Cay looks…frigid water wouldn’t get me on it!

We spent most of our morning at the Grouper Pavilion, which is where you can play a myriad of games.  Ping Pong, Billiards, Chess, Connect Four, and other games are available to play.
Every time we go to Castaway Cay we take a picture of Amber at Mt. Rustmore.  It’s fun to see how she’s grown over the years!

We went back onto the ship after lunch at Cookies B-B-Q on the island, and then hopped into the pool and hot tub.  Enjoyed yet another delicious dinner in the dining room, and then headed off to bed.

  1. Sounds like you had a blast! Delighted for you! I just realized this was a trans-Atlantic voyage! I was seasick on my first trans-Atlantic voyage eons ago. Sure hope things have changed since then!

  2. This looks like so much fun!! I cannot wait until my boys get older to do things like this. I am glad you had a good time.
