Awakening, Honesty, Action—a combination for a lasting change.

We’ve all had “aha!” moments in our lives, a sudden revelation surprising us with insight. With everyday examples and trademark testimonies, Idleman draws on the parables of Jesus to reveal how three key elements can produce the same kind of “aha!” in our spiritual lives:

  • Awakening to the reality of who we are in Jesus Christ
  • Renewed Honesty to see our need for a Savior
  • Inspired to Action, we obey God and follow Christ’s example

As we see in the transformation of the prodigal son, the result is a life-changing, destiny-altering collision—an AHA moment that leads us home to our loving Father.

About the author: Kyle Idleman

Kyle Idleman is the Teaching Pastor at Southeast Christian Church in Louisville, Kentucky.  Author of the award-winning and bestselling book, Not a Fan, he regularly speaks at conferences and events around the world.

I was only just recently introduced to Kyle Idleman’s books when our church small group decided to use Not A Fan for our twice monthly meetings.  It only took me a few pages to know that Idleman would become a favorite author of mine.  He seamlessly weaves his humor with a message that is both convicting and encouraging (yes, that’s possible).  So when I was given the chance to read AHA prior to its release I definitely was interested.

When you read AHA you begin to look in yourself and become aware of how you define grace.  You’re challenged with beginning a change by “getting up and going” and ditching the passivity that we so often use as an excuse when change is needed.

It’s not a self-help book, because the reality is we can’t help ourselves.  It’s only through an AHA moment that we can recognize the need to change, admit it to ourselves and and then leave that place and come home to the welcoming Father (see the correlation between the Prodigal Son there?!  Idleman relates it so well to modern living).

I would definitely recommend AHA as a book to be read in 2014 if you bolster up your bookshelf (and your life) with books to help you grow spiritually.  And in the meantime while you wait for it to be released, pick up a copy of Not a Fan (which, when I published this post, is only $4.66 for the Kindle version).  The books complement each other in their message and application.
