Language Learning and Networking Trip for Homeschoolers

Madrid Skyline (Image Via Wikipedia)Growing up in Canada I was fortunate to be able to learn a second language in school as soon as first grade.  Combine that with having both my parents immigrate from another country and learning another language at home, and I can get by (in most cases) in three languages.

One of the best things about homeschooling is the opportunities we have to travel.  Take for instance this spring.  We'll sail across the Atlantic Ocean and visit ports in Gibraltar, Portugal and Spain.  Talk about the ultimate field trip.

A Trip to the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Museum

Last Thursday we took a little day trip and went to LeMars, Iowa to visit the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Museum. It was a neat experience with much learned about one of my favorite treats!

The drive through the rolling hills and farmland of eastern South Dakota and western Iowa was beautiful. And we stopped to take a look at the Dordt College Campus as well, one of the colleges that Amber is looking at applying to in a few years.

If you would like to see more photos and information about our field trip to the Blue Bunny Ice Cream Museum, check out my post at The Homeschool Classroom:

The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree

Genius's best friend has been Smartgirl since they were in second grade. These girls might as well have been twins. Funny thing is because of their friendship, Smartgirl's mom and I have become great friends too!

During the last weeks of September we made a trip out to the apple orchard together. The little guy is Luigi, Smartgirl's delightful little brother!

Notice how they are all matching? Lol. Genius spent the night at their home, and Smartgirl decided to wear orange since Genius had an orange shirt. When the girls went upstairs Luigi took one look at them, and had to match too, and insisted on wearing an orange top!
