The 39 Clues Book Giveaway

If you have not heard of The 39 Clues book series, let me give it to you in a nutshell...wealthy matriarch scatters cryptic clues to a mysterious fortune around the globe.  Siblings Amy and Dan Cahill are in a competition with the rest of their family to get the fortune by discovering all 39 clues.

It's targeted audience is ages 9 - 12, but I'm sure there are older and younger that will enjoy the series alike.  The series is set to span 10 volumes, #8 The Emperor's Code is set for release on April 6th, 2010.

According to the School Library Journal: "The book dazzles with suspense, plot twists, and snappy humor, but the real treasure may very well be the historical tidbits buried in the story."  So the books themselves might be a real treasure, where your kids are learning while enjoying themselves!

The artwork on the cover, holds hidden messages which hint at the location of the clue in the book.

This isn't just a book series though, The 39 Clues has a website and a collectible card game too.

If you want a sneak peak of what's in Book 8: The Emperor's Code watch the following interview with author Gordon Korman.

If you think your kids would be interested in this series you can start them reading The 39 Clues book 1: The Maze of Bones.

I have 2 autographed book sets which include Book 1: The Maze of Bones and Book 2: One False Note to giveaway.

To enter the giveaway leave a comment letting me know who in your home would enjoy these books (and grown ups it's okay if it's you!).

The 39 Clues books sound like they would be an enjoyable read. Everyone in my family loves to read! I'm an adult, but if I won the set of Book 1 &2, I would be the one who would first read them. THEN, I would pass them on to my adult daughter to read, and after she reads them, she or I will either read them to my 6-yr-old granddaughter or more likely save them for a couple more years until she is better able to read & understand them by herself (she just learned to read this yr in Kindergarten). These books may be targeted for the 'teen' audience, but so were many others that my family has enjoyed reading, such as the Twilight Series, The Tales of Narnia, The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, and the Eragon, Eldest, and Brisingr Series (my husband, daughter, son-in-law, and I are all anxiously awaiting the 4th book in that series).

I watched the video interview with Gordon Korman - how funny! What a great lead-in advertisement for the 8th book! That interview reminded me of something one might see on Saturday Night Live :-)

Oh, wow, I didn't know that both Rick Riordan and Gordan Korman wrote for this series! Both are excellent YA authors, and it's well worth picking up the series for that alone.

I'd enjoy reading them, as would my 9-year-old niece.

Thank you for the giveaway!
