eShakti Review
When I shop I want to walk into a store find the clothes I like in the styles I want and have them fit. Perfectly. Yeah, that's kind of a problem for me though because I'm 4'9". Shirts, pants, skirts, dresses, are all too long. I mean sure I could go shop in the kids department, but I don't want to take the chance of picking up my daughter's friends and be seen wearing matching outfits with them.
Not long ago I was contacted by a company called eShakti. I had read about them on other blogs, but kind of filed them to the back drawers of my mind. I'm very glad they contacted me though. eShakti is a women's clothing store, where the customer can decide how they want a garment to look and fit. Do you like that short sleeve top, but wished it had long sleeves, or are you like me and need about 3 (okay in my case more like 8) inches taken off the length of the pants? eShakti can do that for you. With stylish designs and fabrics, you can get the garment you wished you could find at the mall, and have it tailored specifically to your measurements.
So since my biggest problem is with pants (with a 25" inseam it's really hard to find pants that fit), I chose to review the Tonal Embroidered Hem Pants. These pants are made from cotton satin and are machine washable (perk!). I put in all my measurements, waist, inseam, outseam, hips, etc. The guide that eShakti provides you with to take these measurements is quite comprehensive, and in order to be sure I had my bases covered I filled them all out, whether I needed to or not. Then I waited eagerly to have them shipped. Once they were shipped they came within two days.
The pants fit me quite well. The style is a tad different than I'm used to. Since I'm so petite, I tend to wear closer fitted pants, than these, but I wanted something that didn't look like jeans or khakis to bring along for casual cruise dining when we go away next month. The thing I like best about these pants is the embroidery at the hem line. Unless you have had to chop off nearly half a pant leg to hem in order to fit your inseam, you won't understand the giddiness of a short legged person when they can finally have some embellishment at the edge of a pant leg or the bottom of a skirt.
I can dress these pants up or down, and the length is exactly the measurements I ordered. I've been wanting a pair of lightweight black pants for traveling and am so glad to have these. The only thing I would change about these pants is that they are made with a drawstring. It never occurred to me to see if I could have an elastic put in instead (I bet I could have!), I think I would have preferred that. Regardless I wouldn't hesitate to order clothing from eShakti again, as having something made to fit before you get it is easier (I think) than after.
eShakti offers a complete range of sizes from size 0 to size 26W on every style. That's an amazing size selection that you'll have trouble finding, at least if you don't live in a metropolis. This allows women of all sizes to be able to get fashionable items that fit them just where they need it to.
To customize your garment there is a small fee (it not refundable should you return it), but it isn't outrageous. It is not any more expensive (and perhaps less), than if you took a store bought item to a tailor to hem or alter.
eShakti has a contest going on right now on their site, where you could win up to $250 in gift certificates. It's easy to enter, in 25 words or less tell them who the eShakti woman is, and then mention three items of clothing you found on their site that best represent eShakti to you, then in 30 words or less tell them why you choose those particular pieces. Easy peasy right? If you choose to enter let them know Tammy @ Three Different Directions sent you (yes there could be a special prize for me too if you do!). The contest is open until March 31, so don't delay.

I have a friend who has the opposite problem. She is quite tall, and complains that she can't find pretty slacks. Most are either basic in style, or she has to buy in the men's dept. I will have to fill her in on this great custom clothing company.
