Language Learning and Networking Trip for Homeschoolers
Madrid Skyline (Image Via Wikipedia)Growing up in Canada I was fortunate to be able to learn a second language in school as soon as first grade. Combine that with having both my parents immigrate from another country and learning another language at home, and I can get by (in most cases) in three languages.
One of the best things about homeschooling is the opportunities we have to travel and be able to experience other cultures and languages up close. Take for instance this spring. We'll sail across the Atlantic Ocean and visit ports in Gibraltar, Portugal and Spain. Talk about the ultimate field trip.
Realistically not everyone has the financial ability or the time to take such an excursion, however if you are a homeschooler and have been batting around the idea of a European field trip for your family, you may want to look into the Homeschool Language Learning and Networking Trip.
Rosetta Stone, FuseFly, and Heart of the Matter Online are the sponsors for this trip, which takes homeschooling families to France and Spain. The premier educational travel company ACIS, is organizing it, and the places you've only seen on postcards are destinations you might visit.
Starting in Paris on August 2, 2010 and ending in Madrid on August 11, 2010, you're sure to see and learn about famous European sites.
Homeschool families and homeschoolers over age 16 need to register by February 15, 2010. Visit Homeschool Language Learning and Networking Trip to view more trip details and/or to register.
I was not compensated in any way to post this information.

What a great post! I wish we had something like this when I was growing up. I was home schooled until I graduated from high school and a trip like this would have made some of my education really stand out. I bet your family will just love Spain and the other places you will be visiting! What a great thing to teach them so young.
WOW what an amazing opportunity for some who homeschool. I so would love to tour and Rosetta has wonderful learning tools. I have the typing cd for my children my son learned on it many years ago.
I'd love to brush up on my spanish and have a disc for my daughter to learn language's. Shamefully they don't start teaching a foreign langage til high school.
I learned from Bilingual classes starting around 1st grade
never heard of Fusefly or the other company's you mentioned I"ll have to check that out. THanks
That's a great opportunity for homeschooled children to learn a foreign language. I am born and raised in France and we speak both English and French at home with our daughter. That's amazing how quickly a child can learn a second or even a third language! There are also indeed some great learning tools available out there for everyone.
