Got Breakfast?

Are you looking for a way to keep that New Year's resolution of starting your children's day off with a healthy breakfast? General Mills cereals are a fantastic way for your children to get key ingredients such as calcium, vitamin D and whole grains without being laced in sugar, they have actually committed to make sure that their cereals marketed to kids under 12 will have single digit sugar grams per serving.

Here are more benefits to a breakfast served with cereal:

  • Ready-to-eat cereals, including presweetened cereals, account for only 5% of sugar in children's diets.
  • Ready-to-eat cereal is the No. 1 source of whole grains in a child's diet today.
  • More frequent cereal eaters tend to have healthier body weights and lower Body Mass Index measures.

Do you want to know even more about why your kids should have a healthy breakfast?

A 1998 study showed that children who eat breakfast tend to perform better at school. Compared to children who skip breakfast, children who eat breakfast score higher on tests, are less likely to miss class or be tardy, have fewer reported discipline problems, and make fewer trips to the office.

I’m so excited to share this $1 off one of four General Mills cereals printable coupon! It includes Trix, Cocoa Puffs (a favorite of mine!), Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Lucky Charms. So if your cereal gets gobbled up fast, now is the time to replenish it.

The information in this post as well as coupons for cereal products were provided to my family at no cost to myself from General Mills through the MyBlogSpark program.

In cereal is the only way I can get my daughter to drink white milk (as opposed to chocolate milk, which she, of course, loves). I personally love cereal and have it for dinner sometimes! Thanks for the coupon link.

My daughter recently got a sample of the new Poptarts. They are a wild grape flavor. We read the ingredients and were blown away. Cotton candy might be healthier LOL.

I am so glad to hear they have reduced the sugar in their children's cereal. My kids are huge Cheerios fans, but we never had to worry about the sugar in them . :)

I am glad General Mills is reducing the sugar in their cereal for children. I am always glad to see the emphasis on eating breakfast for everyone! We can all work better when we have that nutritious first meal of the day! I , for one, can't "run on empty". I must eat breakfast!

I think the increase in fiber and reduction in sugar is a great new trend in cereals. I always hated the thought of so many children getting so little nutrition in the mornings eating cereal that had little nutrition.

I'm happy to see them reducing the sugar! I think my son lives off cereal sometimes!

I had to stop buying Lucky Charms because my daughter would only eat the marshmellows! So we switched to Cinnamon Toast Crunch and my daughter loves it! Even drinks the milk after the cereal is all gone. I have to say I do like their cereals and what the promise. My daughter always eats breakfast before school, even if she is half asleep! Thanks for sharing this and the coupon.

I am so glad to see healthier cereals on the market since we consume such a large amount daily. Can't wait to try the new GM product!
