Mary Gooch is no beauty queen. She has always had ‘food issues’, and those issues have built walls around her, especially when interacting with others.
But when her husband doesn’t come home from work the night before their 25th anniversary, Mary is forced to evaluate her life and decides that she needs to step out of her comfort zone to go and find her husband.
Leaving behind all she knows, she boards a plane to California where she is sure her husband has gone to see his mother. While waiting for her husband to return, Mary is put through some trying situations.
For the past 25 years she’s only associated herself as ‘Gooch’s wife’, now she has to find out who she is without him. As she is learning more about herself, she also makes friends with people in need.
Lori Lansens has made Mary Gooch so real, you will laugh with her and cry with her, and maybe even learn with her too.

You have piqued my interest with your review--I will keep an eye out at the library for this book! It is so hard to step out of that good ol' comfort zone sometimes!
This book sounds like a really good read. I think that will be included on my TBR list.
