Pearl Girls Blog Tour

God's love and grace covers unexpected pain in life.  What He does reflects how He created pearls to be formed.  He uses the grit and dirt to make a pearl, much like He transforms the pain in our lives into victory.

Margaret McSweeney recognized that many of us can relate to being Pearl Girls, because we've been there ourselves, or we're currently going through it, or we'll be there in the future, and so she put together a selection of stories written by women, many of which you may already be familiar with, to share their "pearl" story.

I started reading this book on a Sunday morning when Amber had to be at church early, I had hardly begun the third story and I was already in tears.  The pouring out of feelings by the many authors in this compilation will definitely move your heart, melt it if it's cold, strengthen it if it's weak or just confirm to it that God is always there, using the pain to bring out a lustrous, glory-hued pearl.

Margaret doesn’t keep a penny of any proceeds. 100% of the royalties go directly to two charities:

WINGS (women in need growing stronger). The proceeds will help fund a Safe House in the Chicago suburbs. It costs $50 a night to provide safe shelter for a woman and her children. During this economy, WINGS is receiving even more phone calls for a safe place to stay. www.wingsprogram.com

Hands of Hope. The proceeds will help build wells in Uganda for school children. Can you imagine a child at school without a water fountain in the hallway where he or she can grab a quick sip of water in between classes on a hot day? These children have to drink from puddles and other water sources which carry diseases and parasites. It costs $12,000 to build a well in Uganda.  www.handsofhopeonline.org

If you are the type of woman (or know one), who enjoys reading short stories, that are encouraging and uplifting, this would make a great Christmas gift.

I love your review. Women are particularly fond of pearls at some stage of their lives, it's true; and stories well-written are gems, pearls, if you will. I love that 100% of the proceeds go to charities, which makes Margaret a gem; a pearl if you will.

This book sounds wonderful. I am reminded of the Chicken Soup books--I can never make it through one of those without happy tears.

These types of books are extremely emotional, tearful, and wonderful all at the same time. I have read many books such as these and it just makes for a great quiet moment in my life. Thank you for your review of this book. It is great that their proceeds go to charity. It sounds amazing and I will definitely be looking out for it at the book store. Thanks.
