Glade Flameless Candle

Have you ever burnt or discolored something because of a candle flame? I have, our old bedroom set, I put a candle on the headboard of our bed. There was a shelf above that, but I felt I had enough clearance for the flame. I apparently did not, because there was a nice burn mark on it, when I blew the candle out.
