Celebrate National Pretzel Day With Pretzel Crisps #Bloggers4NPCD

Pretzels and crackers are two snacks that you'll find in our home at all times.  My whole family enjoys noshing away on crunchy salty snacks.  And then we were introduced to Pretzel Crisps®.  Not quite a pretzel, not quite a cracker - it's unique!  A pretzely cracker - a crackery pretzel... whatever you call it, well it's worth celebrating National Pretzel Day with (which happens to be today by the way).

Or wait -- if it's not quite a pretzel... maybe it should have it's own day?

Fun Cinco De Mayo Activities and Recipe

Cinco de Mayo is in just two weeks, and my knowledge of this day was sorely lacking.  Pretty much all I knew about it was:

It translated to "May 5"
You eat lots of guacamole, jalapeños, and tortillas

After some research I found out that it celebrates the legendary Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, in which a Mexican force of 4500 men faced 6000 French soldiers.  Long story short, the Mexicans won and so they party.  A fairly good reason to, I'd say.

Goodies Co. - Try It, Before You Buy (Lots Of) It

With my blog I've been fortunate to be able to try quite a lot of different food products, some even before they hit the store shelves.  But my family is still enticed by ads they see on TV or in magazines, and I admit to having boughten snacks before just because I have a coupon for it, even though I've never tried the product.

Of course generally when I do that, I buy a full sized product, and sometimes we've only taken a bite or two before it goes in the trash, because it's not what we expected at all.  That turns me off for a while from buying anything new.

3 Heart-Healthy Recipes for Cholesterol Month

September is National Cholesterol Education Month, and high cholesterol can mean increased risk for heart disease. Those that are at risk for either or both, can lower their risk by making simple changes in their lifestyle.

One of those changes is to incorporate corn oil into your meals. Research shows that plant sterols, like the ones in corn oil, can significantly reduce the body's cholesterol absorption. It's also recommended that those at risk select choices that are low in sodium.

Banana NUT•rition Bites Recipe Featuring Planters Energy Mix & Give Away

I believe in the nut•rition-al power of peanut butter. In my home there is no rationing of peanut butter, everyone can have as much as they like whenever they like.

I got some GOOD peanut butter the other day, new Planters NUT•rition Energy Mix, which features flavors like Banana Granola Nut, Berry Nut and Cinnamon Raisin Granola Nut.

New Triscuit Dill, Sea Salt & Olive Oil

As a kid, I remember my mom making up cheese and cracker trays for when they had their friends in to play cards. Triscuits were always on the tray, and I always perceived them as ‘grown-up’ crackers. Quite honestly, I think back then I didn’t quite like the texture of Triscuits, all ridge like and “woven” like they are.

Bugs Your Kids Can Eat!

I've always been pretty grossed out by bugs.  Even though I don't even like ladybugs, there is something about them that makes me gently toss them outside when I find them, rather than squish them like I do the other bugs I find!
