Funky Barn 3D For The Nintendo 3DS

Funky Barn 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, is a new twist on your standard farming game. Many of us have fed chickens and milked cows on Facebook, but have you ever milked cows with a Milk-o-Matic or collected eggs with a Mobile Egg Collector?

True to its name, Funky Barn is ‘funky’, and allows you to complete mundane farm work with interesting and creative machines.

In Funky Barn, you inherit the land from your deceased uncle and get advice from a friendly neighborhood farmer named Rufus. Once you’ve got the basic controls down, the game begins to add layers of complexity to what innocently seems to be an easy game.

The animals don’t like each other, are afraid of your machines, food disappears if you don’t sell it fast enough. The animals are picky and need you to sate their needs for food, water, shelter and plants (or else they’ll leave!!!). Add UFO attacks, tornados, and wolves and your hands are full, future farmer.

Funky Barn is a fun game, but by almost 16 year old did have some issues playing it. She said the controls rely heavily on the touch screen and can sometimes be frustrating to deal with. She also noted that unlike other ‘farm’ games, Funky Barn is not a farming role playing game, so farming is all you’ll be doing (no avatar, no side objectives, and there are only a handful of non-player characters).

Still, if a hilarious, single-focus farming game seems okay to you, you’ll probably have fun playing Funky Barn 3D.

Funky Barn 3D by Ubisoft is made for the Nintendo 3DS gaming system and is available at retailers for a msrp of $29.99.

Ubisoft provided a product sample. No monetary compensation was provided. All opinions are my own.
