Fish Soda Without The Taste or Smell of Fish

In spring when the weather gets nicer and we shed our winter coats in favor of t-shirts, we sometimes neglect to keep our immune systems up to par.  We associate flu and cold germs with winter and forget it's just as important to support our immune system the rest of the year.

Omega-3s are effective at keeping your immune system in tip top shape.  That in turn allows your body to continuously battle the germs and virsuses you come in contact with.

Nordic Naturals has a product fondly referred to as "fish soda".  Sounds like a high school senior prank, doesn't it?! Lol!

Actually it's an Omega-3 Effervescent which with one serving provides you with 500 mg of EPA and DHA and 1200 I.U. of Vitamin D3.

The Omega-3 Effervescent comes in a creamy-orange flavor, with no taste or smell of fish.  The contents of one packet are combined with a recommended 4 to 8 oz of water; mix and drink.

While the taste wasn't unpleasant, it does take some getting used to.  It is creamy in color and texture after you mix it, but the effervesence overpowers that texture in an aftertaste.  I mixed mine with 8 oz of water, and was surprised at how potent the orange flavor still was.

My husband currently takes fish oil pills, and I checked the supplement information on the bottle.  He'd have to take two pills to equal the same amount of Omega-3s in one packet of "fish soda".  However, the packets of Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Effervescent are more costly than his large jar of pills.

This product may be of interest to those who would like the benefits of Omega-3s but dislike taking pills (and those fish oil pills are monstrous!).  Also if you take fish oil pills on a regular basis, having some Omega-3 Effervescent for when you travel would be handy to have, as it would be easy to pack along and take with you.

Nordic Naturals Omega-3 Effervescent "fish soda" can be purchased in a 7 packet box for $11.01 or a web only special of a 21 packet box for $29.71.   Other vitamins, supplements, herbs and more are also available at Vitaminshoppe.com.
