Do You Remember "Ring Around the Collar"?

I can't even imagine what it would be like to not have a washing machine in my home.  Convenience means a lot to me and being able to get my family's clothes washed and dried in two hours, now that's something my Mother-In-Law probably day dreamed about while she was trying to treat stains with soap flakes and a scrub brush in 1956.

1956 was also the year that Wisk liquid laundry detergent came on the market, the first of its kind.

My parents got married in the mid-sixties, so my Mom had it a bit easier than my Mother-In-Law, but I imagine she still had a heck of a time keeping our clothes clean, with four of us kids (and my Dad!).

My Dad was a machinist, and he worked for the railroad, after eight hours in the shop he came home kind of filthy.  My oldest brother was always tinkering under a car, my sister was known as the "Dribbler" (not the basketball kind, but the food kind), my other brother was always up a tree, or in a field, or a mud puddle, and me well I like to think I was the cleanest of the lot, but I'm sure I had my fair share of stains too.

Like Carbohydrate ones, such as milk chocolate.  Yeah I might have kept a chocolate or two that Grandpa slipped me in my pocket and then forgot about them as I played in 90 degree weather....or Protein stains, like grass, I did play a few years of softball and was great at sliding the bases (need I say more...), or Oil, like butter, I still love buttered popcorn at the movies, but somehow more ends up on my pants than in my mouth, and I have the stains to prove it when I get home.

Wow I sure am glad I only have the clothes of one kid and a husband who works in an office to keep clean!

How many of you are old enough to remember this T.V. commercial?

Now that's a throwback!  But as retro as it looks now, that was a huge deal back in the 70s.  Wisk is upgrading its formula for us in 2010, and you'll find the new one on the shelves starting this month, it features Stain Spectrum Technology, and it's not just fighting 'ring around the collar'.  It will target the full range of stains like those three major groups I mentioned above, as well as blood, coffee, dirt and ink, all on a molecular level for a powerful clean.

Take a peek at what's coming.

New Wisk with Stain Spectrum Technology is available at major retailers nationwide.

32 loads of clean clothes for $5.99.
