All I Can Think of are New Homes

After I finish schooling, cooking, cleaning and blogging, I grab a cup of coffee and sit in front of the computer and peruse the home listings in the area of where we want to move to.

I don't know what the market is like for Kanas City homes, Chicago homes or San Francisco homes, but I know there are plenty of homes in the place we're moving to that I'd gladly purchase.

I go to different websites, and I contemplate whether we want a newer home or an older home.  Whether we want something fully renovated already or to gut everything and renovate ourselves.    A ranch or a two story, pool or no pool, foreclosure or not…

And then I remember…we have to sell our home here first.

This will be the third time we've moved since we've been married.  The first home we lived in my dad and my brother built.  My mom was instrumental in the decorating process, and because we bought it when we got married pretty much all the furniture was purchased for that home.

Then we moved here, and purchased a house, that was new and about 1000 sq ft bigger than our previous home, and I had a bare pallet to work with and a lot more furniture to purchase

Then we sold that home and downsized to about half…which meant getting rid of some of the furniture we had (LOL).  But this home, we had the decorating picked out and finished before moving in, so we didn't have to deal with it later ourselves.

Now we're looking at getting a larger place again!  I love my home now, but we don't have a guest room, and I really want to make that a priority in our next home.  And I suppose that means we're going to have to buy more furniture…again, ha ha, how ironic that we've come full circle with our homes again after 18 years.  This time though (hopefully) we'll stay in it longer than the 6 years we've been averaging per home .

Are you selling your home or did you recently?  What if anything, would you look for in a new home if you were moving in the near future?

I sold two years ago and my musts are a basement and a 2.5 car garage, none of which I have here but I did have in the house I sold. Boo hiss to the south and their lack of these things.

I'm not sad at all that the South has no basements, we had enough water in our last home's basement that I never want to own a home with a basement again! And yeah their garages are SO tiny...you'd think with the big ole' trucks they drive they'd want a 22+ ft garage.
Good luck on buying and selling. It takes patience that I often don't have. How do you keep your house for sale neat all the time?
